How to clean your computer and its components by yourself?

Usually, we keep on using the computer and its peripherals without considering this important aspect. Cleanliness is not only a good habit but also makes you work fondly on the computer or laptop.

Now, the question arises –

How often should we clean the computer? The answer to this question is rather dynamic. The cleaning depends upon different factors like – where is the PC located; is it at the office, home, factory/industry, school, etc? Or who is the user of the computer; is it used by an adult, teen or a child individually or by multiple people?

Before sharing the cleaning tips, you need to know the materials you must use for the cleaning process. You can not just use any tool to clean the PC as it may harm the components. That is to say, there are specific tools developed for the cleaning of different parts of the computer. But, you may use simple household goods like plain cloth, water, small vacuum cleaner, cotton pads, soft sponges, earbuds or even tissue papers to clean the appliance.

Here we are listing a few components that need to be cleaned and methods you can use to clean them.

  1. The outer device – Cleaning keeps the look of the computer system afresh. Also, clean the ports and openings like, for example, the fan. You can blow out in the openings or vents. Another thing is that you can slightly poke cotton buds inside the holes to remove the dust. To clean the stains on the case just dampen a soft cloth and add a little detergent to clean the stain on the case.
  2. CD-ROM drive – A dirty disk-drive can cause glitches when reading discs. The CD in use may have a game, song or software installed in it. These glitches could cause software installation failure or issues while running the program.
  3. Keyboard – The keyboard is the most used component of the PC. Hence, it is necessary to keep the board clean. The keyboard may have bacteria and germs equal to the toilet seat. To clean the keyboard of your desktop or laptop you can turn the keyboard upside down and gently shake it. Also, you can use pressurized air to blow out the dust and dirt. This air can be used through any equipment designed to blow out compressed air. Or even a vacuum cleaner can be used to suck the small dust particles. After this, you should use some disinfectant to wipe the keys of the board.
  4. Screen – Fingerprints, dust and filth can make the computer or laptop screen hard to read and even smudged. To be noted, you must not spray any liquid directly onto the screen. First, spray it on a soft and clean cloth (microfiber cloth) and then wipe the LCD.
